We are spending last night and tonight at Prairie Pines Campground, a very nice city park in Rantoul Illinois. The park is located on South Perimeter Road which is what was the south perimeter of Chanute Air Force Base before is was decommissioned in 1993.
We stayed over the extra night to go to the Chanute Air Museum.
I did not take many pictures of the inside displays, there were just far too many and we only covered about one half of the inside displays.
Carole's uncle and brother were both stationed at Chanute almost 30 years apart.
Rantoul is just about half way between Elkhart IN and our son's house, which makes it a good overnight stop for us.
Great pictures. My brother was stationed there in the 80s. Would love to visit the museum there sometime ourselves.
