Rainbow Plantation Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras at Rainbow Plantation

The 5 day Mardi Gras celebration at Rainbow Plantation started on Friday February 13 with a Spaghetti Dinner followed by King Cake and the selection of the park Mardi Gras King and Queen.

After the Coronation of the King and Queen there were several comedy skits.

Saturday Morning February 14 (also Valentines Day)

Breakfast at the park consisted of Pancakes, sausage or bacon, OJ & coffee. After  breakfast there were more skits.
Bear Parade
The bears were made by the folks showing them.

The rest of the day was open so Carole and I went to the Foley Mardi Gras Parade

Sunday morning we slept in, Carole’s COPD was acting up.  I attended the annual Caned Chair auction at the park by myself because Carole was not up to going out.

Sunday at 5:30pm was the Ice Cream Social and more skits.  Carole stayed home and I got my Ice Cream and did not stay for the skits.  We had dinner and after Carole was having a hard time breathing so we went to the ER.  They first did a full Cardio workup and then gave her a breathing treatment.  The first blood test came back positive for a possible blood clot in the lungs, so they called in a tech to do a special test to determine that is was not a clot in the lungs.  After some more medication and 4 and a half hours we went home with Carole feeling a little better and some prescriptions.

Monday February 16 was the Plantation Mardi Gras Parade.

Video taken from the DashCam in the Motorhome.  Picture size was reduced to accomodate the 100mb limitation on videos by Blogger.

After the parade there was Music by the Jammers and then Lunch.
After Lunch was more skits and then we had the rest of the day off.

Fat Tuesday, February 17, was Dinner and the final skits and the doing away with the King and Queen.  I have many more pictures of the crowd and the skits, far too many to post here.  We had a great time during the 5 day celebration even with the Sunday night trip to the ER.

Highlites of our Cruise

There are a few highlites of our Central America Cruise

We arrived at the Port of Houston (actually Bayport) about noon.
Our ship, the Emerald Princess, was waiting for us.

We had 2 good days sailing down to the island of Roatan off the coast from Honduras.  Then an island tour after we docked.

The next day At Belize we toured a Mayan Ruin
Our tour guide took our picture.

The following day At the island Cozumel Mexico Carole stayed on board the ship and I took an all day tour trip to the mainland to Tulum Mayan Ruins.

Then 2 nights and a day cruise back to Houston.
