Lock and Dam Park - Rome Georgia

Lock and Dam Park - Rome Georgia

Catching up

Friday to Tuesday Morning.

Friday April 24 Joe needed to have a blood sample taken at a Quest Diagnostic Lab and the closest one was in Rome Georgia.  So the 4 of us, Joe & Nancy Liston and Carole & I piled in the car and we were off.  We found a Panera Bread just around the corner from the lab for lunch.  We stopped at Sam's Club and then took smaller back roads going back to Fort Payne Alabama.

Saturday  Carole & I did Laundry, 17 days worth, we have been too busy having fun to do it any sooner.  Dinner time Carole was not feeling up to making dinner or going out so I drove down to Burger King and brought back dinner.

Sunday morning the 4 of us, Joe, Nancy, Carole & I, went to breakfast at Cracker Barrel.  Sunday afternoon is NASCAR day,  And then Nancy made dinner of baked Spaghetti and Garlic Bread and we sat out between the rigs and ate.  The campground owner stopped by to say hi and he hoped we were enjoying our stay.

Monday the 4 of us went for a ride around Guntersville Lake,  We stopped at Unclaimed Baggage in Scottsboro Alabama then had lunch at a local restaurant called Liberty Restaurant. And then continued our way around the Lake.

We got back to camp a little after 4:00 and at 6:00 we drove back up the hill (Sand Mountain) to have dinner at 50 Taters in Rainsville Alabama.
Carole & Nancy had the Stuffed Tater with Beef Brisket

I had the Stuffed Tater with Ham

Joe had Cheese Fries with a Hamburger patty on the side.  The Cheese Fries usually come smothered in Pulled Pork,  But Joe didn't want the Pork.

Tuesday morning it was time to leave Wills Creek RV Park and go our separate ways.   Joe & Nancy were headed west for Red Bay Alabama, and we were headed East to Rome Georgia.

161 Mile Sight Seeing Trip

We started out this morning with Joe & Nancy Liston and headed down to Gadsden Alabama to view Noccalula Falls.

From there we picked up Lookout Mountain Parkway and headed north hoping to find some views of the valley.  We drove all the way to DeSoto State Park without finding any suitable stopping spots to take pictures.  So we stopped at the State Park Lodge Restaurant for lunch.

The next stop was DeSoto Falls near Mentone AL.

Down at the corner of the road to DeSoto Falls and Alabama 89 was an opportunity to park and take a picture of the valley.

Then we continued northeast on Alabama 89 into Georgia to Cloudland Canyon State Park.

After that we dropped off the mountain on GA-136 down to Trenton GA and turned southwest on US-11 back to Wills Creek RV Park in Fort Payne AL.

A total trip of 161 miles.
